In the six years that Juan Peña has been producing coffee, he’s become one of those producers whose name rings loudly throughout the coffee world every harvest. He’s the descendent of a long line of farmers and has applied that depth of knowledge to his farm, La Papaya. He began his career in coffee after a devastating storm laid waste to his long-stemmed rose farm. In the five short years Mr. Peña has been producing coffee, he has experimented with a myriad of single varietals and processing methods from washed to honey processes.
This micro-lot was imported by our friends at Cafe Imports in Minneapolis, who have developed a strong, direct relationship with Mr. Peña through the years. Our roast of La Papaya is fully washed and is comprised solely of the much-loved typica varietal. In our initial roasts, we’re tasting honey sweetness, huge florals and a lovely blackberry finish.
